December 21, 2022Arroyo Conejo is an open space reserve located near Newbury Park, California. It is one of the two major open space areas in Ventura County. The other is the Wildwood Open Space. This area is a popular hiking spot, and the trails are very close to civilization. There are a wide variety of trails to choose from. These trails are steeply uphill, but they are quiet and peaceful.
This open space is a great place to visit with your family. You can enjoy the sounds of the water, and the view of the hills is breathtaking. A small waterfall is also nearby. While walking along the trail, you can hear the rustling of the wind through the trees, and the sound of the creek is calming.
When walking along the trail, you can stop and take a break. You can also enter the raffle, where there are prizes donated by sponsors. Several of the trails offer scenic views of the nearby city of Thousand Oaks. Many visitors like to picnic. Throughout the area, you can find a variety of animals.
The Arroyo Conejo Trail is a moderately easy hike. The trail begins on the eastern side of the Rancho Conejo Playfield parking lot. Once you’ve walked to the gate, the trail becomes slightly wider. As you continue along the trail, you will begin to cross wooden planks. This makes it easier for you to make the crossing.
If you are interested in taking a more challenging hike, you can try the Hill Canyon Trail. This trail is narrow, but it offers a view of a creek tucked away in the canyon. After you pass the creek, you will see a canopy of shade. There are cattails, and you can even climb uphill. To return, you can follow the path that descends into the valley.
One of the other trails that you can try in the area is the Calle Yucca Trail. This is a short, but slightly steep climb. When you reach the top, you will see another beautiful stream. The sound of the water is soothing, and the riparian vegetation is beautiful.
This area is managed by the Conejo Open Space Conservation Agency. The agency was established in 1977 to protect open space in the area. The agency is entirely volunteer run. Since it is a nonprofit, the money they receive is mostly from memberships and donations.
Conejo Canyons Open Space is part of the larger Conejo Nature Preserve. The Preserve is sometimes shortened to Arroyo Nature Preserve. During the Conejo Canyons Study, the Preserve was emphasized.
